Youth of The Month
1. What is your full name and what do you do (hustle)? My name is Mary Muthoni Wachira, am a sales representative Mjengo Ltd in Nyeri region; I sell their products i.e Dawaat Rice and Nuvita Biscuits.
2. You are a Dekut Alumnus (year), tell me about your hustle since then to date? Am a Dekut alumnus year 2015...when I left Dekut I was blessed to get a job at summer Ltd Nyeri before I graduated in May. I remember praying for a job one Sunday in the house I was staying since I didn't have enough money to sustain me. The following day which was on a Monday I went job-hunting and there I got two jobs and found myself choosing....It was a surprise honestly a prayer answered so quickly; our God is never late. On 2018 March I left Summer and started my own business in Samburu County, Maralal town which didn't do well and after some months on November I decided to quit and go back to being employed coz I felt like I wasn't prepared enough to being my own boss. I went down on my knees and presented my case to my Heavenly father coz I rely on Him to open doors for me and asked a job by January; and there my request was granted to work at Mjengo Ltd Thika attached in Nyeri. I must confess God has been faithful to me I have not been jobless since I completed college. He has provided for me always coz I have trusted Him without doubt! He has said in His holy book that whatever you ask in prayer and believe it will be yours.
3. Which ministry do you love serving or would you love to serve? Okey...I believe in giving I might not have given much or participated as much as I would love but the Bible directs us on giving to church. Malachi 3:6-12 tells us of the benefits of giving tithes & offerings and the repercussions of not doing it so I try as much as I can obey this.
Now I occasionally mobilize visits to the children's home with a few friends at least donate the little we can manage and of course assist needy relatives; charity begins at home. Nevertheless, I believe giving doesn't have to be only material things, ...a street child or young man called Mwangi one day decided to go to church, after the preaching there was an alter call by the preacher and he was the only one who came out and got saved. The church elders received him singing 'tukutendereza' and never hugged him of course he was so dirty and he was given a seat in front. When the offering time came Mwangi went behind everyone as they approached the front, he excused everyone who came behind him and was the last and church members started worrying thinking the guy wanted to snatch the bag and run with it. They started staying alert for any eventuality. When everyone had given his offering Mwangi stood beside the offering and the pastor asked him, “why are you standing beside the offering?” What he answered left everyone in awe! He said, “I don't have anything to give but I have come to offer myself to God, to be of service to him.” Everyone was happy they hugged him and people offered to buy him clothes and a place to stay; he gained favour. What do you learn from the story?
4. What’s your favourite sport?? My favourite sports are handball and hockey. I have been a sports lady since high school in Gataragwa girls. I played handball since form one and was good at it. By the time I was in form 2 I was in the first team. It gave me a chance to attend many trips I remember, which was a big deal. That was credit to my dad who is a handball coach who used to train my brothers and I at home. When I went to campus there was no ladies handball team and developed love for hockey. Things were better there, didn't have to work so hard coz girls didn't show up much so if you show up for training once you stood a chance to go for trips and even be given allowances for playing! I made many friends and it made my life fun at campus. It was that team that took me to Kisumu for the first and only time I remember haha.. although when I completed my studies I hanged my boots coz time was limited due to work though I still visit the gym from time to time as staying active help me stay healthy and in shape!
5. What can you not live without? Entertainment. I don't like boredom.
6. What is your personality? Am an extrovert...I like going out and socializing
7. Do you believe in being subjective? No.
8. If you were to pick one wild animal that depicts who you are what would it be? A cat...am curious.
9. Is it true you love debating/ making your voice heard? Tell me of one hot topic you could not allow proposers to win. Yes I do. Men are better/important than Women.
10. Tell me of your testimony? My testimony is me being alive, being today's remnant...God has done so much for me that I can't tell it all. Having a good health, a family which is healthy and expanding no premature deaths ...never slept hungry, a shelter over my head...I appreciate the very basic things that we think are normal and we forget that they are a blessing and a miracle! There are people crying and praying to have what you got. Last December I asked God to give me a job by January and when it came I got a job as a Sales Agent contracting for Mjengo Ltd then after 10 days the contract project was cancelled by the company so when Mjengo limited was employing people I had applied but I was not one of the shortlisted because they wanted people they had worked with before and I was not one of them. After a while I was called by Mjengo Ltd.’s HR and was told to go with my papers and we signed the contract letter. When she was crosschecking her list for the people she had shortlisted she called my name and referred to me as Mary from summer Thika while I worked at summer Nyeri so I told her I worked at Nyeri. She was shocked and then I realized there was some confusion so she told me to wait while others left.
She came back with the Sales Manager and there they confirmed for sure they confused me with another lady that they asked for Mary's no. from summer Thika and mine was given instead but after consulting he told me he will consider me because he has seen for the short time I have worked for them have done a good job! And that's how I have a job at Mjengo Ltd. When you trust God he makes a way even where there is no way! I know prayers work, they have never failed with me just trust in God's strength.
These are the Mercies of our Lord!!

If you involve God everything becomes successful.
