The Coordinator's Welcome Message

The youth ministry focuses on promoting spiritual growth of the youth congregation. The Diocese will promote this ministry to ensure the existence of a strong and vibrant youth ministry. Emphasis will be on staffing, mentor-ship, and developing partnership for holistic Youth development. We continue ministering to the young people and it’s worth noting that the Youth churches have adapted the five Overview Impact Areas to strengthen the Youth Ministry.

The KAYO Motto

Be strong in the Lord, (Eph 6:10).

THE KAYO ANTHEM

OO KAYO, Mashahidi wa Yesu Chama kikuu, chenye kusudi kubwa Kinawapendeza vijana, wasichana na wavulana OO KAYO Mashahidi wa Yesu.

THE KAYO PRAYER

Teach us, good Lord, to serve you with all our strength, body soul and mind.

To love You and Rejoice in You always.

To offer our services without counting the costs.

We pray that your Holy Spirit will give us the courage to fight against the wicked spiritual forces by the help of your Word.

To labour in your vineyard looking to eternal life in the Name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. AMEN.

THE PROMISE

I promise to serve Jesus Christ all the days of my life, to pray and read the bible each day.

To reach for the other young people, caring for KAYO members and to abide by the rules of the group.

OBJECTIVES

  1. To bring the youth to know, to love and to serve Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour.
  2. To build the youth in the knowledge of Christianity and character that symbolizes their faith, and Bible is the pillar of that faith.
  3. To teach the youth the Christian morals and encourage them to be good leaders of our church.
  4. To help the church members to know their role in helping the youth.
KAYO focuses on the following:
1. Discipleship – Youth learning who they are in Christ and daily live a Christ-like life.
2. Mentorship – Older and mature people from KAMA & MU journeying with young people.
3. Stewardship – Enabling Youth to discover their purpose and rightly handling resources.
4. Leadership – Youth influencing and transforming their generation for God.
5. Relationship – Youth exhibiting Christ-like life style in relationships.

It is, therefore, of immessurable importance that as many youth as possible aspire to join the KAYO and while a member, take part in all activities that appertains to their memmbership for the above areas to be realized fully in them. KAYO makes the youth live a positive and Godly life while at the youth stage of their life while preparing them to be responsible men and women that the society and the church will be proud of.

About us

DR. Johann Ludwig Krapf, a German Lutheran, sent by the Church Missionary Society (CMS) arrived in Mombasa in the year 1844. Dr. Krapf established a mission station at Rabai some 15 miles inland. The Rt. Rev. William G. Peel, the first Bishop of the Diocese of Mombasa arrived in Nairobi at the same time as the uganda railway in 1900. He conducted the first Anglican service in Nairobi attended by the railway officials of East Africa. Two years later (1902) the first European Chaplain, the Rev. P.A. Bennet arrived to serve the growing European community in Nairobi and the surrounding areas. The Foundation Stone of the first St. Stephen’s Church built of wood and corrugated iron was laid by Bishop Peel in December 1903 and the Church was consecrated in 1904; it stood near where Parliament buildings now stand. This church was moved to Pumwani in 1922 and re-dedicated to St. John. Another St. Stephen’s was built of stone next to the first St. Stephen’s where the present Chamber of Parliament is now. It was demolished to make way for the extensions to Parliament in 1963. Because it was so strongly built dynamite had to be used to bring it down. The need for a larger church was realized and under the Revd. W.M Falloon money was steadily collected. During this time the original church of St. Mark’s Parklands was built in 1907. This was behind the present Parklands Police station. In July 1914 a public meeting of European Anglicans was held to raise money for a permanent church in the centre of Nairobi and the Foundation Stone for the Church of All Saints was laid on 3rd February 1917. On 31st July 1918, the newly appointed

Quote

It’s easy to go through life trying to impress people, to show them that we’re strong, that we have it all together. But if you’ll humble yourself, empty out your pride, your fear, your doubts and get real, God will help you to grow. You’ll come up higher.

Be inspired

The psalmist said that God intends for us to "go from strength to strength" (Psalm 84:7), but sometimes when we're trying to get through a difficulty, we find that we're going from struggle to struggle. One day we're doing well, the next day we're struggling. I've found that what I'm believing about the difficulty I'm going through makes all the difference in the world on how I come out of the difficulty and what I learn through the difficulty.
