Christ the Center that Holds

Christ the Center that Holds

41“Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, 42 but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.” (Luke 10:41-42 NIV)

Preacher: Rev. Johna Mwangi Muchiri (Youth Pastor)

Fearing God and obeying His commands is our duty. Our success will be measured by;
1. How much fear we've had for God
2. How much obedience we have produced

Are you forced to fear and obey God? For the maximum production of fear and obedience, our knowledge must be aligned with God's commands. That way you will not feel forced to fear and obey God. Identify the source of your strength, power. God should be the source of your strength and power.

In the biblical narrative of Mary and Martha (Luke 10:38-42), Martha opened the door to Jesus then went ahead to prepare something for Jesus and company to eat. But Mary stuck at his feet, listening to him. Just like Martha opened her home to Jesus, we've also opened our hearts to Christ. But mary purposed not to leave christ while Martha was concerned about perishable, unimportant things even though she had let christ in.

The Points

  • -We can't serve Christ enough; he can only serve us
  • -Christ will help us achieve our goal of fearing God and obeying his commands
  • -Let us choose the needful, the better thing - staying at the feet of Jesus
  • -Mary chose the imperishable - Christ the center who is holding
  • -May Christ be the center of everything you do
  • -Our success is influenced by how much we stay at Jesus' feet
  • -Are you teachable? are you willing to obey instructions from God?
  • -We need to study the Bible
  • -We need to know how to consult Christ
  • -If you are not mentored you cannot mentor; study the word of God first (before mentoring others)
  • -Let us purpose to study the word of God
  • -Serve Jesus because he has served you
  • -Focus on eternal life

Be a student of Christ - examine God's word and use it to influence
