Romans 12:2
There are many things happening in the world, some of which are good while others are bad. Most of these things attract people into engaging in them because of the benefits that are associated with them. However, there are many instances where these things are not good for a person, especially a Christian. To cover themselves, many Christians give excuses and self-assurances such as, "God will understand." This is wrong before the eyes of God. As a Christian, you are not supposed to conform to the patterns of this world. You are not supposed to do things because they are being done by other people in the world.
What is the proof that you are a Christian? There ought to be a difference between a Christian and a worldly person. A Christian should not engage in acts that can lead them into sin. In case a sin has already been committed, doing good does not make up for the sin(s). You must repent and seek forgiveness, and God will forgive you. As a Christian you must also treat non-Christians well; show them love, but DO NOT copy their behaviour. Also treat fellow Christians well.
Do not copy the behaviours of the world. Instead, be transformed by the renewing of your mind. That is, think about the positive and good things which reflect a true Christian. Train your mind to think of Godly things even when surrounded by all the ungodliness in the world. Whenever possible, transform the world around you and make it Godly. Instead of doing things done by non-Christians, transform them so that together you can act Christ-like. You can achieve this by reading the word of God (Psalm 119:1). By being transformed, you will be able to test God's good, pleasing, and perfect will (Rom 12:2b).
Be Ye Transformed!
